About Jon

One of Britain’s most individual, accomplished and hilarious stand-ups, with a trademark peevish style, Jon is best known as a regular team captain on Channel 4’s Cats Does Countdown, now in its 18th Series.

Jon is currently shooting the second part of his More 4 documentary series Our Yorkshire Pub Rescue with Jon Richardson. He has become a shareholder in the community owned pub The Plough, helping local volunteers restore the historic village pub after it closed 14 years ago.

Alongside his busy schedule, Jon has taken on Host position on Channel 4’s brand new Bake off Spin Off show ‘Second Helpings’ with comedian and cohost Judi Love.

In high demand for TV, Jon’s most recent screen credits include The Wheel, Celeb Bullseye, Have I Got News For You, The Weakest Link, Richard Osman’s House of Games, The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, Rhod Gilbert’s Growing Pains, Interior Design Masters for Children In Need, as well as appearances on The Last Leg, Live At The Apollo, Channel Hopping with Jon Richardson, The One Show, Would I Lie To You? and Taskmaster.
Every Saturday morning, Jon hosts The Jon Richardson Show on Absolute Radio with co-hosts Angela Barnes, Suzi Ruffell & Lindsey Santoro.

He can also be heard on his regular podcasts Jon Richardson And The Futurenauts, where Jon guides fellow hosts Mark Stevenson and Ed Gillespie through his (abundant) daily worries – from food to climate change – as well as Down The Dog podcast alongside Matt Forde, where they sometimes discuss the football.

In exciting acting news, Jon joined the cast of BBC’s Waterloo Road for its 16th series as a new regular, Darius Donovan. He also featured in the UK release of the SMURFS movie, voicing the role of Grouchy Smurf.
Jon is set to release his second book this Autumn ‘The Teenage Diaries Of a Stand-Up Comedian’, based on the actual diaries he kept as a teenager between 1996 – 1999 – his first book in 15 years!

Jon’s last stand-up tour, The Knitwit, played to a whopping 150k people across the UK and Ireland.
